Theresa Brown, an oncology nurse in Pittsburgh, and Center for Health, Media and Policy National Advisory Council member, has a post today on CNN ” Hospital care is easier, faster with standing orders” that explains what a standing order is and how it is used in specific emergencies or routine care, the obstacles in place that restrict their use and why they need to be removed to deliver faster and less expensive health care.  She raises important issues that can be addressed now to delivery better care at less cost.
